Red Thread

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.
This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

A common concept, especially in series dealing with romances, is the Red String of Fate (akai ito or unmei no akai ito). The concept is that two people who are destined to be together are attached by an invisible red string bound from a male's thumb to a female's pinky finger (generally, though not always, at the first knuckle from the fingernail; also, nowadays it's become more common to show both parties attached at the pinky).

  1. The sutra is the name for the sacred thread, also called yagyopavit, which is worn on the shoulder, usually hanging over the left shoulder and down across the chest around the right hip. This is given to an individual after the sacrament or initiation of upnayana or thread-ceremony.

The moral and social duties of human life are worn on our shoulders and kept attached to our hearts in symbolic form as the sacred thread of yagyopavita (Sutra). It also hangs on our back. It has tied us from all sides, as a reminder of the moral disciplines and ethical duties as human beings.

  2. It is also a part of Indian custom to tie a long red string around the wrist of loved ones during prayer as a mark of protection and to safeguard against the evil eye. Individuals wear it for a month till the thread wears off.

  3. Rabbis, such as the late venerated Yitzhak Kaduri, hand out redstrings to those in need of protection against the evil eye or of medical or psycho-logical help, especially for pain, infertility, or sickness. Those given the string are told that it will protect them from the evil eye andbring them good luck. They are instructed to wear it until it falls off, and warnedagainst taking it off on purpose, which would break their luck. The phenomenonseems to cut across all sections of the Jewish population in Israel.

  4. There are those who would say that it is the blood that flows through the body of the person. They are in part correct but for the most part incorrect. Blood flows through the whole of humanity and can be passed from one to the other (within the limits of blood grouping). The Red Thread can be passed to those who are not of the race, where the thread never becomes active. It can miss generations within families that are “Witch” and those generations will still be “Witch”

There are those who say the Red Thread was passed from the earlier race of humanity (Neanderthal). They are incorrect.
There are those who say the Red Thread is 100,000 years old. They are incorrect
